Live pinfish, threadfin herring, and squid have been the top baits, with many anglers also finding luck on jigs and slow-pitch setups. Grouper are striking aggressively in the early morning and late afternoon, making these prime windows for booking charters or planning trips.

The most common fish on the 4 - 6 hour trips include the following: grey snapper (grunts) porgies, trigger fish, sand perch, lane snapper, small red, gag and scamp grouper, black sea bass, Spanish mackerel, puffers and many other species. Did you want to have a fish drag you around the boat? Do you want to see your teenage boys get humbled real quick? This is the trip for you!! On this trip it's all about the big ones! Our main targets will be goliath grouper and 6-8 foot sharks (the main sharks are sandbar, blacktip, spinner, lemon, nurse and sometimes tiger and hammerheads) it is also be possible for king mackerel, bonito, cobia and the very occasional sailfish and blackfin tuna! Great for bachelor parties and even families who have some fishing experience. Typical seasons are March through August but can be all year.

Extended Half Day Shark And Grouper Fishing Trip In St. Petersburg, FL 

This is a full day, 10 - 12 hours (It is listed for 10 hours, but depending on the bite and weather, I have no problem with 12 hours at no additional charge), 40 to 50 miles offshore for red grouper and red snapper (seasonal). On these trips, you never know what we may catch! We have caught king fish, sailfish, blackfin tuna, amber jacks, mangrove snapper, vermillion, and lanes. While I do not have an age limit, it is recommended that these anglers have been offshore before and have some experience bottom fishing. I love these trips!!

This a very family friendly charter and great for young kids! The focus on this trip is to have non stop action of smaller reef fish. It is very common to catch 30 - 70 fish and have plenty for dinner. While it is possible to catch a big fish, we do not target them.
